Our Services
Outside general counsel: In this role, VBPena Law provides day to day advice to small and mid-size businesses, who otherwise do not need or cannot afford full-time, in-house general counsel. Outside general counsel services include, but are not limited to, reviewing and negotiating contracts, answering HR questions and dealing with employee performance issues, sending mechanic’s lien notices, and coordinating the filing of affidavits claiming liens in the real property records to protect rights to payment.
Civil litigation: In this role, VBPena Law prosecutes and defends business and construction disputes in both state and federal courts, as well as arbitrations. Blayre and Terry have successfully tried cases to juries and to the Court. Terry has tried over 200 jury trials in his career, and advises on trial strategy. VBPena Law maintains a small litigation docket so that each matter can have individualized attention. We collaborate with our clients to seek and produce relevant information to support or defend against claims. VBPena Law maintains efficiency with all aspects of the litigation and does not pursue the scorched earth approach.
Civil appeals: In this role, VBPena Law advises on how to preserve error at the trial court and prosecute/defend issues on appeal. Our appellate docket ranges from interlocutory appeals, appeals from final judgments, administrative appeals to the District Court, and filing petitions for writ of mandamus when traditional appeals are unavailable. VBPena Law prides itself in being the only law firm in Williamson County with an attorney board certified in Civil Appeals.
